Cardan Shaft

Cardan shaft also refer to as propeller shafts with Universal joint shaft is the shaft with integrated joints. It acts as an intermediate between the driving and the driven shaft that are not aligned on the same axis transferring the running torque smoothly. Cardan shafts transmit rotary motion and torques via an articulated shaft Assembly.
Cardan shaft is made up of one or more hollow shafts, connected with cardan joints also called as universal joints at the Shaft flanges. The universal Joint comprises a central crosspiece with two crossed pairs of bearing journals that Fit Into cross holes in the fork-like shaft flanges to create a movable connection. Sometimes elastic discs (joint discs/coupling flex discs) are used instead of the crossed joint when only low torques is being transmitted.

Cardan shaft transmit rotary motion and torques via an articulated shaft Assembly. The articulation in the assembly can also be adjusted when under load. Torque can be transmitted between parallel offset shafts when two universal joints are being used. In vehicles to transmit engine Power to the drive Axle cardan shafts are used.

Cardan shaft is used for power transmission of torque between specially offset driving and driven shafts whose position can be changed during operation. Whenever there is a need of spatial angular motion and changes of axial length then it is ensured by advanced constructional elements.
Due to all of these cardan shaft is almost indispensable and important transmission component in automotive engineering and industry. Dullabh Commercials is a popular cardan shaft supplier among all cardan shaft manufacturers in India. We are also universal joint shaft manufacturers in India and UJ cross manufacturers India.
